What is Two Out Rally?

Two Out Rally is a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) dealing with the on field action, off field drama, and general excitement of a fictional baseball league, the WBL. You play the role of a scout building a name and reputation throughout the professional baseball world, both as a manager of talent (players that you create, train, manage and develop for stardom) and as an owner of whole teams (controlling both the rosters and business decision to ensure both profit and success). Your goal is to have your players become superstars, your teams to become dynasties, and for all of them to become champions.

How Do I Start Playing?

You've already managed to create a user account just to get here, so you're at least halfway there. You just need to create a player, and you're on your way. More information about how this is done, and the impact of the decisions you make, can be found in the Help guide.

Does Two Out Rally Cost Money?

Two Out Rally is free to play for as long as you wish. Your character starts with the ability to create a player that you can see through all the way to his retirement. Then you can begin anew. You can experience all of the features of the game excluding team ownership with a free account.

So What is Influence?

Influence is the amount of notoriety your scout has achieved in the world of the WBL, and it can be exchanged for equipment, advanced training to improve your player's skills faster, Gamechangers, and the ability to scout (create) additional players and teams. It can be earned through on field accomplishments, through writing stories for the front page, or other various tasks within the game. It can also be purchased at our online store.

How do I Create Players?

To create a new player, you need 200 influence and a blank card entitled "Create Player;" this can be found on your Profile Page under the Players tab. A newly registered scout starts with 300 influence, so you have enough to create a player immediately with some influence left over.

How do I Find a Team?

Newly created players will receive offers from computer run teams. If you wish to play for a human run team, you can use the Hot Stove League or the Forums to negotiate a contract. More detailed information about this process can be found in the Help Guide.

I want to run a team! How do I get one?

The Team tab on your profile page shows all teams currently under your control. You can purchase a team by selecting the blank card "Create Team". A simulation league team costs 500 influence per season, while open league and casual league teams cost 400 per season. You can learn more about the process in the Help Guide. Bear in mind that it's a much greater responsibility than owning a player, so be ready!

Do the focus attributes matter?

Yes. Being focused in an attribute means that you have an advantage in that attribute over one of the 3 opposing attributes, a weakness against another, and neutral against the third. Having a balanced character (no highest attribute) means you are neutral against all opposition, which can be a blessing or a curse.

What the heck is a Gamechanger?

Gamechangers are an optional card-like game that gets played on top of the baseball game and gives advantages to your players, disadvantages to others, or prompts rare events. Both players and teams can play Gamechangers. Check out the Help Guide for a detailed explanation.

Can I have more than one scout / account?

No. This is an abuse of the free Influence you receive and is a violation of the Terms of Use agreement. One scout / account per player.

My brother and I play at the same house. Will I get banned for having multiple accounts?

You can have up to 3 accounts per individual IP address. Bear in mind however, that we will be actively looking for signs of abuse (accounts signing out and then in almost simultaneously).

How many players / teams can I have?

Practically unlimited. You could theoretically have up to 9,999 players and the same number of teams, but that sounds like kind of a burden, doesn't it? However, the sky is pretty much the limit.

If I'm banned in the forum, can I still play?

While spamming or abusing the forum is against the Terms of Service, being "silenced" or "muted" on the forum will still give you access to the game itself. Be careful, though, being abusive on the forum may shut some doors with other players who run teams, who may not want to negotiate with your players. Being civil is a good idea all around.

If I'm banned from the game, will I get a refund?

We will ban players from the game only as a result of flagrant or repeated violations of the most grievous parts of the Terms of Service and EULA. If this occurs, you will not receive a refund.

Something isn't working. Who should I tell?

Your answers lie in the forums. First, check the Closed Bugs thread to make sure that the issue hasn't been addressed before and that there isn't an explanation available. Then, check the Bugs thread to ensure that someone else hasn't brought the issue to our attention already. If not, make a post there following the guidelines and we'll do our best to find and fix the problem.

I had an awesome idea on how this part of the game could be better. What should I do?

At various static times of development (when we aren't already implementing new features) we will be actively taking suggestions via the Forum thread "Suggestions". Check to make sure your idea is unique, then share away! We're definitely willing to listen.

I'm confused. Who can help?

There are three excellent places to look: The Two Out Rally wiki, the Player Guide, and the Help Forums. We're confident that one of our super helpful players will have any help you need. We're also considering New Player Ambassadors for the future who can act as sort of a tour guide and resource to the features and game.

What are the terms of service? Can I do pretty much whatever I want or do you guys have minimum expectations?

The terms of service can be found here. Nothing we are asking should be out of line if you've played any other online game before (or any game or sport with rules at all). Generally good rule to follow: if something seems like a bad idea or inappropriate, it probably is.

How do I get more influence without buying it? Can I transfer it to a friend?

We will award influence for various contests, events, holidays, or possibly for no reason at all other than that we're nice people. Also, you will receive influence for being a moderator or tester, helping us find critical bugs, or writing content for the WBL's story. Under no circumstances can you transfer, wager, gift, or trade influence or accounts. These actions range from the unethical and disallowed to the probably illegal.

What's with the Russian guy and the quotes from guys I've never heard of?

This is the fictional story of a baseball league called the WBL, a story that you are now a part of. Play well enough and you'll be one of those quotes.

How can I lose my membership?

Only through the most flagrant violations of the Terms of Use, and in most cases, you will receive multiple warnings or a suspension first. It won't be easy to do and can be avoided. Also, free accounts that remain inactive for six months will be deleted, although you are welcome to come back. Accounts that have purchased influence can remain inactive for up to 2 years.

I'd like to be a tester. What should I do?

At various times, we will be testing new features and will require the help of players like you to do so. At that point, our moderating community will seek active applications on the forum, and they will select players who they think will be best suited to the task.

I have an issue with a Moderator. With whom should I speak?

If that Moderator has taken no action against you, such as a suspension or a "mute" on the forum, then no one. Moderators are just players too, and unless they are in violation of the Terms of Use, we won't get involved in squabbles. However, if you feel you were unfairly discriminated against for disciplinary action, then please email us at contact@twooutrally.com and we will investigate the issue. And remember that most severe action will have been approved by us in the first place.

I'd like to be a moderator. How can I make that happen?

We will sometimes ask for community members to step up and be moderators, and we will indicate our intent on the proper section of the Forums, along with a detailed application process. When that happens, apply!

What's the maximum player level? Do they get old?

There is technically no maximum level that you can achieve, though each level will get progressively more difficult. If you don't plan to use the "Rushing" feature, anticipate that your players will get to level 40 or so. And yes, they will get old, which will result in the degradation of their skills over time.

I have a player in one league and would like him to be in another. How does that work?

The information about the leagues can be found both on the Wiki and in the Help Guide. Moving a player between leagues is pretty easy if you are out of contract - in most cases, you simply accept a contract from a team in a different league, excepting the simulation, where you will have to declare for the draft. Remember that different league types have different rules and features available.

What the heck do these stats mean?

Check our glossary for definitions of the statistics that we track.

I'm a sabermetrician, and this totally wouldn't work in real life! What gives?

In the real world, there are skillsets that can be easily defined as the best to have, and these are rare, which is part of the reason they are so valuable. But in a world where you create your own players, you have to be more creative to make the game fun and playable and to ensure a lively and varied experience for everyone, as well as some strategy. We hoped to create that to the best of our ability, and we realize that not everyone will be 100% pleased all of the time. However, we feel that if you give it a chance, you will see that we've stuck to the fundamental principles of good baseball play and an understanding of some of the more advanced concepts.

What the heck are Rep, Celebrity, and Fitness about?

Rep, Celebrity, and Fitness are what you gain based on how you decide to spend your hard-earned money. They level up just like your characters do, and higher levels reveal higher rewards.
