Season 12 Tier D Championship Game

Iowa City Hawkeyes(134-26)(Tier D Blue League Champions)
Cubfan79's Iowa City Hawkeyes won the D Blue League Wildcard playoff spot. With a team batting average of .355 and 327 homeruns and a team ERA of 2.66 the Hawkeyes had good batting and pitching through out the season. My Choice for team batter of the year goes to Right Fielder Erik Lannister who batted .350 with 49 home runs and knocked in 168 runs while scoring 156 times. Team Pitcher of the year goes to Buck Wheat who had a 23-7 record with a 2.09 era in 262 1/3 innings pitched. He also struck out 204 batters while walking 36. His Whip was at .950. The Iowa City Hawkeyes just squeezed by the Torrance Wildfire 3 games to 2. The Hawkeyes in a must win game 5, had no problems knocking off the Wildfire 8-3 to win the Division Series. The Hawkeyes also just squeezed past the very tough Los Angeles Cheesybeards 4 games to 3. In the Must win game 7 the Hawkeyes took the Cheesybeards into extra innings with a 3-3 tie before scoring 3 runs in the top of the 10th with the big play being a 2 run double by Jacques Cousteau. In the bottom of the 10th the Cheesybeards tried to make a comeback run and fell up short. The Iowa City Hawkeyes are the Tier D Blue League Champions.

Anoka Holloweeners (124-36)(Tier D Red League Champions)
Tib Kirk's Anoka Holloweeners won the D Red League Eastern Division Championship. With a team batting average of .370 and 275 homeruns and a team ERA of 2.44 the Baseball Academy had plenty of offense and pitching to keep them atop of the Eastern Division. My Choice for team batter of the year goes to First Baseman Bump OHare who batted .339 with 54 home runs and knocked in 194 runs while scoring 164 times. Team Pitcher of the year goes to Buck Nasty who had a 23-4 record with a 2.42 era in 241 1/3 innings pitched. He also struck out 289 batters while walking 90. His Whip was an awesome 1.03. The Anoka Holloweeners played like a championship team, Sweeping the San Antonio Heat 3 games to 0 and then detroying the Sacramento Rivercats 4 games to 1 to win the Tier D Red Championship.
